New projects…
I have put the back up thing on hold. Apparently, there are a lot of backup programs, blah blah. It can wait. I have instead focused on excel scripts creating new sheets, naming, clearing data, adding data, etc…
And, I have started looking into VBA code for writing macros for excel, to use at work. The majority of the world is still using windows based computers. Kind of a pain having to learn two different programing languages at the same time, but I guess it will pay off in the long run.
I have to admit applescript does seem to come a little more natural. Seems to flow just a little better. VBA is a little more cryptic, at least so it seems right now.
A little VBA code to “null” columns of data to a zero point worked out nicely and saves me about 5 minutes per date package. I will post the code tomorrow, if I can remember to. I will create a VBA category and place this post in it as well.
I am going to keep plugging along learning what I can and keep yo up to date with the progress.
It has been a while.
Hey there, it has been a while and I don’t think that anyone even missed me.
Anyway, I am back and will try to keep up on the blogging. Not really something that I have done much of before. I guess I don’t have much to say.
Keep looking and always look at the facts.
Nearly have the auto backup folder script working
I have nearly finished the auto backup folder action working. Basically, what it does is backup a copy of what ever file is added to the folder to a folder on the network. It is close, although I have run into a snag when running it as a folder action. Everything works when a designated file is the backup target, but when set up as a folder action, it isn’t getting where it should go.
I am going to work on it tonight, if I get the time, hopefully have it working.
Playing…
Hey, you ever find yourself playing the same old tunes? Yep, me too. When I first started playing, at 15 years old, I was into Punk music and Heavy Metal. The Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Dead Kenadys, The Exploited, Ozzy, Metallica, Slayer, and others of the time. It was a lot of fun, learning new tunes every other day. Playing for hours a day. Driving my parents crazy with the loud music.
Now, I have the time to play maybe 30 minutes a couple times a week and my taste in music has, well become broader. The other day I was playing a couple of bluegrass tunes and started thinking about the days long gone. How my playing is staginant.
So I dug out some of the old folders of sheet music and lessons. I have decided to dedicate a little time every day to knocking some of the rust. It is time to run some scales.
